Fire Joe Torre

A very stripped down recap of all of Joe Torre's mistakes this year.

Jeter

on a hard hit grounder that should have been caught routinely, Jeter dove and then threw the ball away (while on his knees). he was not credited with an error, even though two runners scored on the play.

I don't know the official scoring rules, but shouldn't the play be constantly re-evaluated depending on the situation? In other words, Jeter even if you assume jeter made a "great" play to get to the ball, that shouldn't negate anything he does after it. He threw the ball away. The runner from second scored b/c of that throw.

That was an error, even if it was Jeter doing it.

Bernie Williams

he should not be allowed to hit against right handed pitchers EVER.

he should never ever be allowed to bat 5th.

he should not stay in the game when torre brings in Crosby as a defensive replacement. melky > bernie.

on a windy day in the dreaded right field corner of the stadium, he shouldn't run all the way to the wall and then not be able to catch a ball that goes fair. he should stand on the line and move to the wall at the end. letting a ball drop foul is not as bad as letting a double fall in.

I'm ignoring a couple of examples of Sturtze coming in

it's pointless to mention this, b/c Torre THINKS that Sturtze is in fact the better option. Thus, he's sort of making the right move by bringing him into high leverage siuations, at least in his own mind.
